Mahler’s Night Symphony

Musical Discovery

Mahler’s Seventh Symphony is one of the most enigmatic works ever written – a vast nocturnal journey filled with shadow, mystery, strange dances and radiant awakenings. Moving from darkness toward blazing light, Mahler expands the symphony into a psychological and emotional landscape unlike anything heard before or after.

What Makes This Concert Special?

Redwood Symphony and Eric Kujawsky performed two complete cycles of all 11 of Mahler’s symphonies (including Das Lied von der Erde and two versions of the posthumously completed Tenth); the orchestra is midway through the third cycle.  Redwood Symphony’s and Dr. Kujawsky’s performances of these epic works have drawn critical raves from local critics!
