Have you played a lot of the standard repertoire and it’s starting to feel repetitive?

Do you like 20th and 21st century music?

Would you like to be in a group that strives to be innovative and different, but also fosters social connection among its members?

Redwood Symphony, in its 39th season under founder and Music Director Eric K, has single-mindedly pursued the vision of providing the most challenging symphonic music to its all-volunteer musicians.  We are on our third complete Mahler symphony cycle, have performed many of the major works of Stravinsky, Bartok, Copland, Mason Bates, and record studio CDs (9 so far) for our own label.

We meet Wednesday evenings 7-10 at Canada College Main Theater (where we also perform), in Redwood City. We don’t audition; you are tried out for a few sets.

Seeking extra harpist

This position would be a wonderful way for an accomplished student to become familiar with important repertoire that is seldom done by avocational orchestras. Redwood has eight concerts a year including a summer concert and a Halloween Family Concert. All rehearsals (Wednesdays 7-10) and performances (usually Saturdays at 8 pm) take place at Canada College on the main stage.

Current openings

Redwood Symphony is actively recruiting for the following positions:

  • All string section players
  • Extra harp

If you or someone you know are interested to join our high-caliber family of musicians, please contact Eric K at maestroek [at] sbcglobal.net.
