Important: Out of an abundance of caution, this performance is livestream only, presented free of charge. Unfortunately, Redwood Symphony was not able to license the content for future viewing so the concert will not be recorded. Watching it live is the only option.

Two great contemporary works are featured on this concert.

Rendering, Berio’s moving reconstruction of Schubert’s final symphony (one of several left unfinished, including the famous “Unfinished” No. 8) is notable for what it doesn’t reconstruct; all gaps in the original manuscript are filled in with “scaffolding” of newly-composed, modern music, a moving and novel effect. This is a favorite of Eric K’s, and this will be the orchestra’s second performance.

The Glass Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Orchestra has tunes that could be on the Top-10 pop charts. Our soloists are the marvelous Zēlos Quartet:

Michael Hernandez, soprano saxophone
Johnny Selmer, alto saxophone
Robin Lacey, tenor saxophone
David Cortez, baritone saxophone
