Rossini's Overture to La Gazza Ladra (“The Thieving Magpie”) raises the curtain on the final subscription concert of Redwood Symphony's 34th Season. The program continues with Hundred Heads by Du Yun, a Shanghai-born, New York-based composer. The evening concludes with music of Danny Elfman, best known for his soundtrack scores. Rabbit and Rogue was written for choreographer Twyla Tharp and the American Ballet Theater. The piece employs gamelan and other unconventional additions to the percussion section in six dance inspired episodes.
