Michael Tilson Thomas was deservedly named "Best Conductor" in San Francisco Classical Voice’s Best of the Bay competition for 2016–2017. But our own Eric K was mentioned as well: "Philharmonia Baroque's beloved Nicholas McGegan was the runner-up, and Eric Kujawsky and Scott Krijnen each received plaudits for their terrific work with community orchestras." Tales of Hemingway wins three Grammys
Michael Daugherty's cello concerto, Tales of Hemmingway, of which Redwood Symphony and soloist Jonah Kim performed the west coast premiere last September, has won three Grammy awards including Best Classical Instrumental Solo, Best Classical Compendium and Best Classical Contemporary Composition.
Redwood Symphony is proud to be a member of an orchestra consortium that commissioned this work, which depicts four books by the great American author Ernest Hemingway. See more info about the piece here.
Redwood Symphony Wins "Best of Bay"
The all-volunteer Redwood Symphony has won the Best New Music Performance category of San Francisco Classical Voice’s Best of the Bay competition for 2015-2016. Concert-goers throughout the Bay Area voted for their favorites in several categories on the SFCV website.
The award honors the orchestra’s April, 2016 performance of young Bay Area composer Mason Bates’s Alternative Energy. Read about all the winners at the SFCV site.

Triumph in Davies Symphony Hall
On August 5, 2012 at 3 p.m. in Davies Symphony Hall, San Francisco, Redwood Symphony and combined choruses from New York and the Bay Area presented what critic Janos Gereben proclaimed the "Mega-Concert of the Year!" Playing before an enthusiastic crowd of 1700, the orchestra and chorus performed the Berlioz Requiem and other works.
